The first people to identify themselves as cyberpunks were adolescent computer hackers who related to the street-hardened characters and the worlds created in the books of William Gibson, Bruce Sterling, John Shirley, and others. Cyberpunk hit the front page of the New York Times when some young computer kids were arrested for cracking a government computer file. The Times called kids "cyberpunks". Finally, cyberpunk has come to be seen as a generic name for a much larger trend more or less describing anyone who relates to the cyberpunk vision. This, in turn, has created a purist reaction among the hard-core cyberpunks, who feel they got there first." |

1 I. CYBERPUNK
1/ My jsme ti - Odlisni. Technicke krysy, brodici se v oceanu informaci.
2/ Jsme nevtiravi, jak malej kluk ve skole co sedi v rohu v posledi lavici.
3/ Jsme teenager, povazujici kazdyho za ciziho.
4/ Jsme studenti hackovani pocitacovejch systemu, objevujici hloubku jejich moznosti.
5/ Jsme vyrostek v parku, sedici na lavicce, laptop na kolenou, programujici nejnovejsi virtualni realitu.
6/ Nase je garaz nacpana elektronikou. Pajkovacka v rohu stolu a pobliz lezici rozebrany radio - rovnez nase. Nase jsou sklepy s pocitaci, bzucicimi tiskarmami a pipajicimi modemy.
7/ Jsme ti, kteri vidi realitu jinym zpusobem. Nas uhel pohedu ukazuje vic nez obycejni smrtelnici muzou videt. Oni vidi jen to co je venku, ale my vidime i to uvnitr. To jsme my - realisti s brylemi plnych snu.
8/ Jsme cizinci, neznami i pro sousedy. Lide, hovici si ve svych vlastnich myslenkach, sedici den co den u pocitace, neustale neco zdimajici z internetu. Ne casto jsme z domova, nanejvys cas od casu. Maximalne se zajit podivat do nedaleky radiochatrce, do obvyklyho baru za nekym z tech par pratel, ktery mame, nebo za klientem, nebo do postranni ulice za svym oblibenym dealerem… nebo jen tak na malou prochazku.
9/ Nemame moc pratel, jen tech par, s kteryma chodime na parby. Kazdyho jinyho, koho zname zname jen z Netu. Nasi skutecni pratele jsou tam, na druhy strane linky. Zname je z oblibeneho IRC kanalu, z News-Groups, ze systemu, kde se poflakujem.
10/ Jsme ti, co z vysoka serou na to co si o nas mysli ostatni, nestarame se o to, jako kdo nebo co vypadame, nebo co o nas rikaji za nasimi zady.
11/ Vetsina z nas rada zije skryte, byt pro kazdeho neznamy vylucuje jen tech par lidi, se kterymi se musime nevyhnutelne setkat.
12/ Ostatni miluji publicitu, miluji slavu. Jsou znami po celem undergroundovem svete. Jejich jmena jsou tam casto slyset. Ale spojuje nas jedna vec - jsme Cyberpunkeri.
13/ Spolecnost nam nerozumi, podle obycejnych lidi, zijicich daleko od informaci a volnych myslenek, jsme "podivini" a "blazni". Spolecnost odmita nase mysleni - skupinu, zijici, myslici a dychajici jen a jedine pro jednu vec - click.
14/ Odmitaji nas, protoze myslime jako nevazani lide, a nevazane mysleni je prece zakazane.
15/ Cyberpunk ma ale i vnejsi vzezreni, je nepohyblivy. Cyberpunkove jsou lide, kteri zacinaji jako obycejni lide znami vsem nulam, ale pak dozraji do umelcu technomaniaku, hrajici elektronickou muziku, do povrchniho skolaka.
16/ Cyberpunkac je samotar nove kultury, potomek noveho veku. Kultury, spojujici nase spolecne zaliby a nazory. Jsme jednotna parta. Jsme CYBERPUNKERI.......
